Solace: comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness.
Solace: comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness.
Life lately has been a whirlwind. As I juggle the ups and downs of work, family commitments, and wedding planning, I’ve realized how crucial community is. But amidst the chaos, I’ve found solace in unexpected places.
One of the most profound moments of peace I’ve experienced has been in my hairstylist’s chair. It’s more than just a seat—it's a sanctuary. A space where I can truly be myself, unwind, and be reminded of my strength. Her words of encouragement have been the push I needed to return to blogging.
So, in the spirit of just starting—no matter what—here’s a life update. Grab your glasses, pour up, and let’s chat. Tonight’s wine pick? Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay—a smooth, crisp sip to ease into new beginnings.
Work: The Reality of Early Career Growth
What they don’t tell you about joining the workforce at a young age is how much you have to mature—and fast.
At first, I had fire beneath my feet, ready to conquer the world. But growth isn’t just about ambition; it’s about balance. I threw myself into work, leading committees, planning events, and taking on projects left and right. I thought giving my all was the only way to prove my worth. But in doing so, I neglected myself.
Now, I’ve learned that true leadership isn’t about burning out—it’s about knowing when to slow down, delegate, and show up fully present. My tip? Plan ahead and protect your energy. Success isn’t just about how much you do, but how well you sustain it.
Family: Finding Strength in Distance
Living far from family has been one of the hardest but most empowering experiences of my life. I’ve had to learn to rely on myself in ways I never expected.
From handling challenges alone to creating my own support system, I’ve discovered a resilience I didn’t know I had. Distance doesn’t weaken connections—it strengthens them when you make the effort.
Wedding Planning: The Countdown Begins
We are six months away from sharing our love in paradise—Los Cabos, Mexico—and I’m so excited to recreate my sunset proposal with all of my family and friends around. Planning a destination wedding has had its pros and cons.
Pro: My location is beautiful. I mean, a picture will not do this place justice.
Con: I like to be in control, and wedding planning in another country has presented its challenges—like finding the time to connect with our decorators, coordinator, etc. But it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t embrace a challenge!
Without sharing too many details, I have a dress that I love, and our venue is something out of a storybook. Every moment of this journey, even the stressful ones, has made me even more excited to say 'I do.'
Final Thought:
Life has a way of throwing curveballs, but in those moments of being overwhelmed, there’s always a place to find solace. Whether it’s in a conversation with a friend, sitting in your hairstylist chair, a chat with a great boss, a glass of wine at the end of the day, or simply taking a deep breath. Remember! you are no good to anyone if you do not take care of you first. Lastly, a great woman has said to me “if first you don’t succeed.. just try try again “.
